Publication Ethics
Finance & Audit Research Archive letters (FARA) is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct in research and publication. This policy outlines the responsibilities of authors, reviewers, and editors to ensure the integrity and quality of the published material.
Responsibilities of Authors:
- Originality and Authorship: Authors must ensure that their work is original and that they have properly acknowledged the contributions of all co-authors and collaborators. Plagiarism and self-plagiarism are strictly prohibited.
- Data and Research Conduct: Authors must conduct their research ethically and in accordance with relevant regulations and guidelines. Data must be accurately collected, analyzed, and reported. Fabrication, falsification, and manipulation of data are not tolerated.
- Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could bias their work. This includes financial interests, personal relationships, and professional affiliations.
- Authorship Contributions: Authors should clearly state their individual contributions to the research and writing of the manuscript. The "CRediT authorship roles" framework can be used to provide specific details.
- Submission and Review Process: Authors are responsible for submitting their manuscripts in accordance with the journal's instructions and responding promptly to reviewers' comments and requests for clarification.
Responsibilities of Reviewers:
- Objectivity and Expertise: Reviewers should provide objective and constructive feedback on the submitted manuscripts. They should be experts in the relevant field and have the necessary expertise to evaluate the research.
- Confidentiality: Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of the review process. They should not share any information about the manuscript with anyone outside of the editorial team.
- Timeliness: Reviewers should complete their reviews within the agreed-upon timeframe.
- Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could bias their review. This includes financial interests, personal relationships, and professional affiliations.
Responsibilities of Editors:
- Fairness and Editorial Independence: Editors are responsible for ensuring that the editorial process is fair and unbiased. They should make editorial decisions based on the scientific merit of the manuscript and not on any personal or professional interests.
- Selection of Reviewers: Editors should select reviewers who are qualified and have no conflicts of interest with the submitted manuscript.
- Handling Complaints: Editors are responsible for investigating and resolving any complaints of misconduct, such as plagiarism or inappropriate authorship practices.
- Retraction and Correction: Editors have the authority to retract or correct published articles in cases of scientific error, misconduct, or plagiarism.
